Updated Aggregate Heater Ensures Consistent Concrete During Winter Months

Sioux has updated the Aggre-Flo® Aggregate Heater (AFH2), a high-performance solution designed to keep concrete production running smoothly during cold weather. The system uses hot air for coarse and fine aggregates, heating directly in storage bins. This eliminates ice and frozen chunks while maintaining consistent material temperatures—without adding moisture to the mix. The Aggre-Flo® ensures aggregates remain free-flowing and at optimal temperatures, helping producers maintain consistent batch quality even in the harshest winter

The AFH2 is powered by a 50HP TEFC motor and features a 2,000,000 BTU/hr LP or Natural Gas-fired burner with up to 8,000 CFM maximum airflow. Its fully welded steel frame includes forklift pockets and a durable powder coat finish for long-term reliability. The design also allows easy access to the burner for simplified maintenance.

At the heart of the system is a PLC control panel with a 7-inch IP65-rated color touchscreen HMI housed in a NEMA 4 watertight electrical enclosure. Operators can program and control up to six aggregate bins with customizable seven-day scheduling. Built-in diagnostic tools provide real-time machine status and fault code visibility. For expanded operations, the system can be upgraded to manage up to four additional bins per expansion pack.

The AFH2 can be integrated with appropriately sized existing bin diffusers. Thermocouples, thermowells, and ducting are required for temperature control and airflow distribution. Sioux offers assistance with diffuser design and supply for applications requiring customized solutions.

Designed to meet UL-508A and NFPA 86 standards, the AFH2 enhances operational safety by eliminating the need for employees to climb bins and manually break up frozen aggregates. This not only improves worker safety but also protects equipment from damage.

Each AFH2 unit includes Sioux Sentinel® for real-time monitoring and remote connectivity within the same local network. For enhanced flexibility, Sioux Sentinel Pro™ subscription service allows operators to monitor and control the unit from any web-enabled device with an internet connection—regardless of network location.

Sioux Sentinel Pro also enables remote troubleshooting by Sioux technicians to reduce downtime. One-year and lifetime subscription options are available.

With improved efficiency, enhanced safety, and reliable winter performance, the Aggre-Flo® Aggregate Heater delivers a smarter way to keep concrete production in spec all season long.
