Elution Heater FAQs

Elution Heaters

The elution heater is designed to heat fluids with boiling points greater than 300°F (148.9°C). The temperature limit on an elution heater is set to 300°F (148.9°C) with a manual reset switch set to 325°F (162.8°C).

An elution heater can be placed in any leaching operation at any point that a heated solution should or can be used to recover gold or other precious metals.  Heated solution improves the efficiency of precious metal extraction.

The heat exchanger and pressure relief valve are made of 316 stainless steel.

A forced air burner fueled with either diesel, LP, or natural gas heats the fluid directly as it circulates through the heat exchanger on the elution heater.

Sioux Elution Heaters are offered with either a 60Hz or 50Hz electrical configuration.  Standard electrical circuit is 115V/1Ph/60Hz or 220V/1Ph/50Hz.  If a 3-phase configuration is desired, please contact a Sioux representative for more information.

Performance is based on 70F (21C) ambient temperature at sea level.  Performance derates approximately 4% ever 1,000 feet (604 meters) altitude above 3,000 feet (914 meters).
